How do I exclude test orders from Shopify reports if I can't delete them?

Orders placed through a real payment provider are not classified as test orders by Shopify, so they cannot be deleted and are not auto-excluded from reports. To keep them out of your financials, tag those orders in Shopify admin, then run reports in a tool that can filter out that tag.

Context

Shopify only treats an order as a true test order when it was placed with the Test (Bogus) gateway or Shopify Payments in test mode. Those are flagged internally as test and are automatically kept out of payouts, analytics, and financial reports, and they can be deleted. An order placed with a real card through a live provider is a real order in Shopify's eyes even if you intended it as a test, which is why it cannot be deleted and why it still counts in your reports. Canceling or refunding those orders does not remove them from report totals, and native Shopify reports do not offer a clean way to exclude specific orders. The reliable fix is to make the orders identifiable and then filter them out at the reporting layer. Add a tag such as "test" to each of those orders in the Shopify admin. In Report Pundit, add a filter that excludes that order tag, or filter by the specific order names, so every report you run leaves those orders out. This works on any plan, including Basic. Save the filtered report once and it stays clean going forward.
