What Is the Shopify All Product Report?
The All Product report is a complete export of your existing Shopify catalog at the product and variant level. Each row is a variant, and the columns bring together catalog attributes (title, SKU, category, product type, collections, options, tags), commercial fields (price and product cost), and current stock, so the whole catalog sits in one table.
It is a catalog report, not a sales report. It does not show units sold, revenue, or performance over time. What it shows is the current state of every product record: how it is named, categorized, priced, costed, grouped, and whether it is published and in stock.
Two distinctions merchants often mix up show up as separate columns here. Product Status (active, draft, archived) is not the same as Visible, which controls whether an active product actually appears on your online store. And Product Category (Shopify's standard taxonomy) is separate from Product Type (your own free-text label). Merchants use this report to review the catalog, catch inconsistent or missing data before it causes problems downstream, and export a clean master file for migration or backup.
Which Fields Are Included in the All Product Report?
These fields let you evaluate how complete, consistent, and correctly priced each product record is.
You can customize the pre-made report by adding, removing, or rearranging columns, and apply a filter (for example, one vendor, one status, or one collection) to focus on a single slice of the catalog.
Important Insights You Can Find in This Report
Which variants are priced without a recorded cost, or carry a thin margin?
Put Price and Product cost side by side and scan for variants where Product cost is blank or sits close to (or above) Price. Missing costs quietly break every margin and profit calculation downstream, and a price that barely clears cost may not be intentional. This tells you exactly which records to fix in Shopify before you trust any profitability number, and which variants may need a price or cost review.
Where is the catalog missing the data that fulfillment and discovery depend on?
Filter to active, visible products and look for empty SKU, Barcode, Product Category, or collection columns. A live product with no SKU or barcode creates friction in fulfillment and stock matching, and one that belongs to no collection is hard for shoppers to find through storefront navigation. This surfaces the specific records blocking clean operations rather than a vague sense that "the catalog needs tidying."
Are you holding stock on products customers cannot actually buy?
Compare Product Status and Visible against Inventory Quantity. A variant that is draft or archived, or active but not visible, while still showing stock on hand is inventory tied up in something no one can purchase. This points you to either publish the product, move the stock, or write it down, instead of letting it sit unnoticed.
THE ANALYST'S READ: The Signal Most Merchants Miss
Sort the export by Product Type, then by Option 1, Option 2, and Option 3, and look for values that mean the same thing but are typed differently. "T-Shirt" and "Tshirt," "S" and "Small," "Blue" and "blue" all read as distinct strings to Shopify even though a person sees them as identical.
This matters because Smart Collections and storefront filters key on the exact string. When option values or product types drift, variants silently fall out of the collection or filter they should belong to, and the gap never appears in day-to-day admin. It only shows up when the whole catalog is laid out in one table like this. If you see clusters of near-duplicate values, that is worth standardizing at the source, because it is quietly capping how discoverable those variants are and skewing any grouping built on those fields.
How Can You Automate the All Product Report?
Open the pre-made All Product report in Report Pundit and save it as-is, since the columns are already set. To adapt it, add, remove, or reorder fields and apply the filters you want, then save that version so it is ready whenever you need it.
Export it as Excel, CSV, or PDF, or send it to Google Sheets or Google Drive. You can also schedule it to email on a recurring basis (daily, weekly, or monthly) to yourself, your team, or your accountant, so a current catalog snapshot arrives without rebuilding it by hand.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the All Product report include sales or units sold?
No. This report covers catalog data only: attributes, price, cost, and current stock per variant. For sales performance, use a sales report such as Sales by Product or Best Selling Products.
Does the report show every product or only active ones?
It covers your existing catalog and includes a Product Status column, so you can see active, draft, and archived records together. Filter by Product Status when you want to narrow it to one state, such as active products only.
What is the difference between Product Category and Product Type in this report?
Product Category is the product's classification under Shopify's standard taxonomy. Product Type is your own free-text label. They are separate columns because a product can carry a standard category and a different internal type at the same time.
What is the difference between the Custom Collections and Smart Collections columns?
Custom Collections lists collections you build by manually adding products. Smart Collections lists collections a product falls into automatically based on rules. Seeing both together shows how each variant is grouped and where it may be missing from a collection it should be in.
Can I use this report to back up or migrate my catalog?
Yes. Because it captures the full variant-level catalog in one table, it works well as a master export for backup or migration. For a walkthrough of catalog export and backup approaches, see the guide on exporting and backing up Shopify product catalogs.
