Customer Information
See every Shopify customer's full profile in one report: name, contact and address details, company, tax-exempt status, order count, and total spent.
What Is the Customer Information Report?
Customer Information pulls one complete record for each customer in your Shopify store. Instead of ranking or filtering buyers, it lays out the full profile side by side: name, email, phone, the default address, company name, tax-exempt status, and the customer's lifetime order count and total spent.
Because it keeps every customer in view, this report reads more like a master directory than a segment. That makes it the report to reach for when you need to export contact and address data, hand a clean customer list to a CRM or email tool, or check which accounts are marked tax exempt or tied to a company.
One distinction worth keeping straight: Created At is the date the customer record was created, which is not the same as the date of their first order. Order Count and Total Spent, by contrast, reflect lifetime activity across all of a customer's orders.
Which Fields Are Included in the Customer Information Report?
These fields let you evaluate who each customer is, how to reach them, and how much business they have brought in.
You can customize the pre-made report by adding, removing, or rearranging columns, or apply a filter to focus on one group, such as tax-exempt customers or buyers from a single country.
Important Insights You Can Find in This Report
Which customers spend a lot across very few orders, and which spend a little across many?
Read Total Spent next to Order Count for each customer. A high total spent built on only one or two orders points to big-ticket or bulk buyers who may respond to a personal follow-up or a wholesale offer. A high order count with a modest total spent points to frequent small-basket buyers, who are better targets for bundles or a minimum-order incentive. The two shopper types need different handling, and this report shows both in the same view.
How much of your customer base is tax exempt, and is that data complete?
Cross-read Tax Exempt with Customer Company to isolate your B2B and wholesale accounts in one pass. If customers marked tax exempt are missing a company name, or company accounts are not flagged exempt, the profile data is inconsistent, which causes problems at invoicing and tax time. Cleaning up those records before your next wholesale push is easier than fixing them order by order later.
Can you actually reach the customers you already have?
Scan Email, Customer Phone, and the address fields for gaps against Order Count and Total Spent. A customer with real order history but a blank email or address is revenue you have already earned yet cannot easily contact again. Filling those gaps directly widens the audience you can retarget or win back, so the completeness of this report is worth checking before any campaign.
THE ANALYST'S READ: The Signal Most Merchants Miss
Created At records when the customer account was created, not when the customer first bought. Reading Created At alongside Order Count and Total Spent surfaces something the ranked and filtered customer reports hide: how many accounts exist that never turned into paying customers, and how long your paying customers have actually been with you. A large block of older records showing an order count of zero could mean newsletter sign-ups, account registrations, or abandoned checkouts that never converted. Those records inflate your headline customer count without adding revenue. It may be worth separating dormant, never-purchased accounts from active buyers before you judge list size or plan a win-back effort.
How Can You Automate the Customer Information Report?
Open the pre-made Customer Information report in Report Pundit. The columns are already set, so you can save it as is, or add a filter and date range to narrow the list first. To rebuild it manually, go to Custom Reports and add the fields listed above.
Once saved, schedule it to email automatically on a daily, weekly, or monthly cycle, and send it to your team, a VA, or your accountant on the same schedule. You can also export it as Excel, CSV, or PDF, or push it to Google Sheets or Google Drive so the contact and address data lands where you already work.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Customer Information report and the Most Valuable Customers report?
Customer Information lists every customer's full profile with no ranking applied, so it works as a complete directory or export. Most Valuable Customers is sorted by Total Spent to surface your highest-value buyers first. Use Customer Information when you need everyone, and Most Valuable Customers when you only need the top spenders.
Does the Customer Information report show tax-exempt customers?
Yes. The Tax Exempt field flags customers eligible to buy without tax, such as wholesale or reseller accounts. You can filter the report on that field to pull a clean tax-exempt customer list.
Are Order Count and Total Spent lifetime figures or limited to a date range?
By default they reflect each customer's lifetime totals across all orders. If you want to focus on a specific set of customers, you can apply a filter or a date range, but the spend and order figures themselves represent lifetime activity.
Can I export the Customer Information report for my CRM or email tool?
Yes. Download it as Excel, CSV, or PDF, or send it to Google Sheets or Google Drive. That makes it straightforward to import customer contact and address data into a CRM or marketing platform.
What does the Created At field represent?
It is the date the customer record was created in Shopify, which marks when they became a customer. It is not necessarily the date of their first order, so a customer can have an early Created At date and still show a low order count.
