Shopify records the shipping amount charged on every order, but it does not label orders as paid or free shipping. This page explains how to tell the two apart using the shipping charge itself, and how to compare them side by side in a Report Pundit report. It is for merchants who want to see how many orders shipped free, how many paid, and what sits behind each group.
Official answer
Add the Shipping column to an order report in Report Pundit, then split the orders by shipping amount. Orders where Shipping is above zero are the ones where the customer paid for shipping, and orders where it is zero shipped free. No tag or shipping title is needed.
Every Shopify order carries the shipping amount the customer was charged at checkout. However free shipping was offered, whether through a threshold, a discount code or a free rate, the customer was charged nothing and the amount reads zero.
A custom report built on the Shipping column, grouped into the two buckets, gives a side-by-side comparison of paid and free shipping orders. To see the orders behind each bucket, open Add Columns in the report designer and bring in the fields needed, such as Order Name, Order Date and Total Sales, so every order is listed with its own details. Simply reach out to the Report Pundit support team to get this in the desired layout.
