This answer explains how to get a daily sales report that splits sales by channel (Point of Sale and Online Store) and shows how much you sold at each VAT rate, such as 0%, 13.5% and 23%. It covers what Shopify shows by default, what the Report Pundit report adds, and how to run it for any dates or have it emailed every day.
Official answer
Yes, Report Pundit can show each day’s Point of Sale and Online Store sales, with the sales amount at each VAT rate (such as 0%, 13.5% and 23%) in its own column, plus total sales. It runs for any dates and can be emailed daily.
What Shopify gives you
Shopify’s Taxes report shows how much VAT you collected at each rate and on each sales channel. It does not show how much you sold at each rate. To get that number, you would have to work backwards from the VAT amount or build it by hand in a spreadsheet.
What the Report Pundit report looks like
Each day gets two rows, one for Point of Sale and one for Online Store. Each row has a column for every VAT rate you charge, showing the sales amount at that rate, and a Total Sales column.
Accurate rates, discounts and returns
- Rates: Each sale is placed in the column for the VAT rate that was charged on that order at the time. If you change your VAT settings later, past days stay the same.
- Discounts and returns: These are taken off before the amount lands in a rate column, so each figure reflects what you actually kept.
- Shipping: Shipping has its own column, so it never gets mixed into your product sales. The rate columns and shipping then add up to the day’s total.
- Your own rates: The columns follow the rates you charge. They can be 0%, 13.5% and 23%, or any others.
